Alguna Tristeza plot

Why is there always something sad in the gaze of Peruvians? Part of the answer can be traced back to the 1936 Berlin Olympics, and what happened when Peru's football team won the quarterfinals against Austria. Ramírez continues the film with expressive images and contemplative musings about the grief that is somehow woven into the history of Peru. Poverty, injustice, loss and marginalization characterize the culture and people seem to expect nothing else. The film reflects not only on the grief, but also on the strength and creativity with which people manage to keep going.
