Ahead of Time plot
"Ruth Gruber didn't just report the news...she made it!"
About the extraordinary life of Ruth Gruber. At the age of 97, she still has the sharp intellect and determination that once led her to become the youngest in the world to graduate from college at just twenty years old. At 24 she became a reporter and photographer for the New York Herald Tribune and that same year she became the first journalist ever to enter the Arctic region of the Soviet Union. A trusted member of the Roosevelt government during World War II, she was given a secret and dangerous mission. She was a feminist before feminism existed, never just a spectator and therefore a participant in world history. Her story is combined with images of Gruber who traveled to Israel, interviews and archive material.
