Accelerated Under-Development: In the Idiom of Santiago Alvarez plot

Santiago Alvarez was one of the great radical filmmakers whose work could be known to anyone interested in the past and present of independent film. Alvarez was radical in a political sense: he was a Cuban, a fervent supporter of the revolution and a maker of news bulletins. He saw himself not as a documentary maker but as a distributor of pamphlets. But he was also radical in his style: he worked with minimal budgets and often reworked existing images. With this he made almost experimental films, mostly personal and poetic. A famous quote of his is: "Give me two pictures, a moviola and some music and I'll make a movie of it."
