A Northern Soul plot

When his hometown of Hull is elected City of Culture in 2017, renowned filmmaker Sean McAllister is invited as creative director for the opening ceremony. A great opportunity to see how the once bustling port city is doing. His parents note that little of the old glory is left. But perhaps that will change with this cultural year. McAllister follows the sympathetic and enthusiastic warehouse worker Steve, a hip-hop enthusiast who, because of the cultural year, gets the chance to visit disadvantaged neighborhoods with a mobile recording studio to help the local youth make their own raps.
