Before the advent of computers, more women worked in the office than men in construction. These mostly apolitical women did not feel represented by the emerging women's and labor movement. Yet, in the early 1970s, a group of Boston secretaries and typists had had enough of being marginalized. Why are they called 'girls' all their working life, their talents are not used and they don't get a pension when they stop? Can't their bosses get their own coffee?
