1944: Bomben auf Auschwitz? plot
In April 1944, two prisoners miraculously escaped from the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, giving the world the first-hand account of the terrible truth. The documentary follows the adventurous paths taken to pass this information on to the Allies. Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler were prisoners of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Both had detailed knowledge of the mechanisms of mass extermination due to their positions; as a camp guard, Wetzler had to register all the possessions of new arrivals, such as clothing or jewelry. He therefore knew how many people were arriving at the camp every day.
