1929, la Crise plot

Director William Karel examines the biggest stock market crisis in history, which broke out exactly eighty years ago -- Black Thursday was October 24 -- on the New York Stock Exchange. A selection of economists and historians alternately tell, filmed against a neutral black background, about the causes of the exceptionally deep fall in prices and the economic and political consequences into the next decade, such as extreme poverty and the rise of the extreme right. Their statements are illustrated with archival material in black and white.
