Four inmates at the city jail in Richmond, Virginia are part of a unique form of rehabilitation that involves writing and recording original music. The documentary follows their personal and artistic development as they produce and record with Grammy-winning recording artist Todd "Speech" Thomas of hip-hop group Arrested Development. As the creative process unfolds and a chance for freedom approaches, each of these men must unearth painful elements from their past that hold the key to a new chapter in their lives.
