Anna Plummer, the daughter of a Canadian farmer, secretly marries young Johnny Masters against her father's will. Anne and Johnny then move to a large city, where Johnny is killed in a robbery, shortly before Anna gives birth to a daughter. Anna is forced to move in with her baby in her domineering Aunt Frieda's house. When Anna learns that Frida has placed her daughter in a home, an argument ensues, in which Anna accidentally kills Frieda. Anna is sentenced to ten years in prison for manslaughter…
