On the evening of March 25, 1996, Jan Philipp Reemtsma – son of a cigarette manufacturer, multimillionaire, professor, publicist and patron of the arts – was kidnapped near his home in Hamburg. After tens of millions of marks ransom was paid, Reemtsma returned to his family. But what did his partner, psychoanalyst Ann-Kathrin Scheerer, and their son Johann do during those days of anxious waiting?

Meanwhile, Ann Katrin and Johann struggle to control their emotions and avoid further endangering their husband and father.
