The career of the movie star Carole Raymond is coming to an end. Carole therefore teams up with Jeff Caldwell, who is involved in real estate, which turns out to be a cover. Actually, Caldwell runs a marriage agency through his secretary Nola Reed. With the help of their co-worker Lee Kirby, Caldwell and Reed cheat and blackmail a large group of lonely people. Carole is unknowingly used as bait for Walter Desmond, one of their victims, who eventually commits suicide. The journalist Willem Tyler does not trust the case and he goes incognito as a rich rancher and he contacts Carole Raymond. Carole is being blackmailed by Caldwell these days. Caldwell has to convince Tyler to invest in a fraudulent oil transaction.
