This Man Is News plot
A thief who is part of a gang that commits a sensational jewelry heist turns down an interview with journalist Simon Drake. Then, when the journalist is fired because this is the umpteenth time that he has messed up a story, he turns it down to a drink. He comes up with a joke that gets completely out of hand. So much so that he is considered the perpetrator of the murder of the jewel thief that was committed a little later.
