The Beggar's Opera plot

Captain MacHeath (Laurence Olivier) is a highwayman known for romances with many beautiful women. He is betrayed by Jenny and Sukey, two of his ex-lovers. He is arrested and will be hanged. While waiting for his execution, MacHeath is entertained by a musical beggar, who has composed an opera in which the highwayman is the heroic protagonist.
