Quai du Point-du-Jour plot
Emile Dupont, a metal worker in a Renault factory, is a bachelor of almost fifty and leads a quiet life. One night he is awakened by the clatter of machine guns. A gang of thugs loot the inn on the corner of the street. Emile opens his door. A young, distraught girl flees into his apartment and hides in one of his rooms. The police arrive for a search. To save the stranger, Emile orders her to sleep in his bed and tells her that he will spend the night on the armchair. He sends the police away. In the morning he is awakened by the girl. She reveals her past; the breakup with her parents, the birth of an illegitimate child and the drama of being caught in the clutches of a band of bandits. Emile feels sorry for her, sees that she clearly does not belong in the gangster environment and decides to help her.
