Charley Partanna, a hit man from the Prizzi family, meets blonde Irene at his client's wedding party. The mutual attraction is great and they soon decide to get married. The fairy tale does not last long, because day after day Charley discovers more about his new wife. Irene also turns out to be a hit man and is more closely involved with the Prizzis than Charley dared to dream. The two turn out to be more than worth each other, but this cannot end well because the granddaughter of godfather Prizzi has had a crush on Charley for years.

Parody of the "Godfather". The film relies entirely on the acting and can count on heavyweights Nicholson, Loggia and Turner. William Hickey, who plays Corrado, is a joy to watch and listen to. The twisty story starts off slowly, and it looks a bit old-fashioned, but once the film has caught your attention and the situations become comical, it's quite enjoyable. However, neither the actors nor John Huston will be remembered by that film.

Today I started a box of three films with Jack Nicholson. I fell asleep in the first "Man trouble". This one is a lot more interesting. Especially with regard to the story. Also the role of Jack Nicholson is more convincing than in "Man trouble", although he is not really credible as an Italian mafia boss either There are also scenes in the film that are really very badly acted, in particular the scene of granddaughter returning to her father is of an extremely lousy level that is even unimaginable in this film. And finally there is the cast of the "Don" The "Don" of "Prizzi's honor" actually reminded me very strongly of Klaus Kinski in "Nosferatu" But "Nosferatu" is not a mafia movie !!!
The ending of the film really disappointed me. Was this the best they could come up with?

Good film in which a hit man from a powerful mafia family gets married. A fun story that is mostly entertaining due to quite a few plot twists. The humor mainly comes from the somewhat bold characters, which are also portrayed in that way by the excellent cast. Easily 3.5 stars.
