Nihon Jokyo-den: Makka na Dokyo-bana plot
Since the death of Matsuo Yuki's father, the position of union representative has been available. The central government has decided to leave the choice of a replacement to an organization of horse traders in Hokkaido and thus Yuki has become the first choice. But corrupt officials want to keep her out when she arrives on the southern island of Kyushu. The cold climate is especially problematic for Yuki, but she soon has to worry more about the violence that erupts between different groups. Meanwhile, Yuki's protector watches from the shadows...
