Murder in the Big House plot
"Murder Behind Bars! WHEN? WHO? HOW?"
When a prisoner sentenced to death is "accidentally" killed just before his execution, reporter Bert Bell doesn't trust it and sets out to investigate. Bert's investigation reveals that the convicted man intended to reveal incriminating information about contacts between the city's corrupt politicians and key organized crime leaders. Bell, with the help of political columnist and alcoholic Gladys Wayne, plans to end up in prison to learn more about the murdered inmate and expose the links between the local underworld and the upper world.
