The 1972 Olympics would be a friendly and sporting highlight for all nations. But they ended as a tragedy because of the hostage-taking of the Israeli athletes. The attack (Das Attentat) in Munich marks the 'zero hour' of international terrorism. Munich 1972: an open mind, simple and free. But then the unthinkable happens. In the early morning of September 5, Palestinian terrorists storm the Olympic village and invade the quarters of the Israeli delegation. Only shortly afterwards did security forces find the first dead Israeli. The rest of the team is in the hands of men, who openly have nothing to lose.
