La Candide Madame Duff plot
When he stands in front of the mirror, Jacob Duff thinks he is too fat: his wife Régina, younger than him, serves him too many plates of good food. They live with their son Junior and his governess Miss Cast in a beautiful house by the sea. Jacob is jealous and annoyed by the perfection of the beautiful Régina. He considers leaving her and confesses this to his aunt Lou, a very wealthy lesbian. Lou, who loves Régina dearly, warns Jacob that if he breaks up with her, she will disinherit him. Jacob becomes increasingly obsessed with the idea that his wife has a lover. He believes it is his driver Nolan. One day he sends a bailiff on them in the hope that he can catch them in adultery, but his plan fails. After that, Jacob begins to lose more and more self-control.
