Grand National Night plot

Enthusiastic racehorse owner Gerald Coates is married to the attractive but resentful Babs, who doesn't like horses as much as he does. After Gerald has won the 'Grand National', Gerald and Babs have a fight that evening, where she starts over divorce and Gerald accidentally kills his wife. Fearing the consequences, Gerald hides his wife's body in the trunk of a car owned by an innocent stranger. The suspicious and fanatical Liverpool Police Inspector Ayling suspects that there is more to Babs' death than meets the eye. He is going to question some people in Babs' circle of acquaintances about certain aspects of their behavior.
