Don't like it much. Very boring even at times. It feels messy and there is no real line to be discovered. Also sometimes had no idea who was who and who was attacking whom and why. Now I was watching a documentary with the black side of the mafia. Storylines are abruptly rushed. That people here say that the godfather and scarface are nothing compared to this movie hurts me as a movie buff. Really insane, but good. Will be forgotten this morning. Characters didn't impress and it doesn't feel like a movie anywhere.

The mafia genre is one that I normally have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with, but this is by far the best I've seen. When I first heard about the film my interest was piqued, then bought, and my interest only increased the moment I saw the quote on the back of the cover: "Forget The Godfather, Gomorrah shoots all glamor around the mafia to shreds''. .

Raw, realistic (almost docu-like) and very intriguing. Fortunately, no regular customers De Niro or Pacino this time, but just local, Italian actors who also speak Italian. All characters without frills, which adds a lot of realism. It is special to see the mafia at work once, stripped of all the tough chatter, ''cool'' one-liners and irritating curse tirades. Also many things of which I did not know that the mafia was involved in that at all, so in a sense even instructive as well (waste processing for example).

I wasn't really annoyed by the long-windedness or lack of coherence, although the average ''xxx Tony Montana audience'' will undoubtedly have more trouble with it. Not all characters were equally interesting, which is perhaps realistic in a certain way (no frills), but is still a small minus. Furthermore, an extremely fascinating and especially daring portrait of the Camorra in Naples.

Small 4.0*.

Love it or hate it movie. I don't care much for it. Quite long-winded without too much story or structure. You have zero bond with characters. Atmosphere is nice. The last half hour you get some bills for you to choose and then it's suddenly ready.
