"Life. Or death. It's your move."
Fatherless and raised by his grandmother, young Ricardo Galam lives in South Africa's Cape Flats, a unique and violent suburb dominated by 2 Number Gangs, the 26 and 28. Ricardo's future as a chess master is threatened by his growing interest in the 26, whose leader sees him as a potential member. Unbeknownst to Ricardo, his father Farakhan, whom he never knew, has been released from prison. Farakhan, a general in the 28, is back in his old neighborhood, an enemy in the territory of the 26.
