To increase the circulation of his magazine, Joseph Randall (Robinson) stirs up a 20-year-old murder. The never convicted murder suspect is no match for the renewed confrontation and commits suicide together with her husband. That, in turn, drives their daughter Jenny Townsend (Marsh) to a reckless act.
