Recently retired Chief Kovak returns to a small village near Greifswald, where a heinous crime was committed 20 years ago. A little girl was brutally murdered and the perpetrator was never caught. Kovak is convinced that he knows who the perpetrator is and now wants to fulfill the promise he made to the parents at the time: to solve the murder of their daughter.
