Two police officers are on night patrol in Los Angeles. One is Ray Mandel, a veteran. The other is the novice Nick Holland. Good film about an experienced agent who gets a young agent to work with him. The film takes place during a night shift in which more than enough happens. The characters may be a bit clichéd and not entirely believable, but it is entertaining from start to finish. Fairly raw, sometimes exciting and Thomas Jane is well cast here. A small 3.5 stars.

I don't know if it really works like that, but if it does, it seems like a HORRIBLE job to me.
Strange that some people write above that they find the film 'boring'. I don't know, but I think every few minutes they experience a tough situation in which they have to act?
Maybe you expect action scenes like in the Fast & Furious, but I find that boring, because that is really 'fake' and we see it in every action movie. Tiring.
At the end something happens that makes me doubt whether they can actually make that happen in 'real life'. Anyway. There are more things happening in America that surprise me. Good movie, if you don't like 'fake action movies'.

Entertaining film about two police officers on night patrol in Los Angeles. Thomas Jane is excellent here as a seasoned, cynical veteran who tries to convey the tricks of the trade to his younger colleague. The plot hangs together a bit like loose sand and you may wonder how much misery one can experience in one night, but the film is well made and quite exciting, with a convincing atmosphere and many strong scenes.
