The safe-cracker Jimmy Valentine and his buddy Swede plan a bank robbery that they want to carry out together with Avery and other thieves. But then Jimmy falls in love with Rose and he decides to go straight under the name Randall. Jimmy retires to the town where Rose lives with her father. Jimmy's former buddies, however, try to get him to change his mind, and Detective Doyle is after him too.
