Women's Weapons plot

"The Vampire Couldn't Stand the Breakfast Table Test!"

The children of a novelist, Nicholas, contract scarlet fever. His wife, Anne, stays at the house to care for them, but the authorities quarantine the house, and Nicholas, forbidden from staying there, takes a room in the city until the quarantine is lifted. Lonely, he becomes attracted to his illustrator, Esmee. They begin an affair, but Nicholas soon discovers that Esmee's expensive tastes threaten to bankrupt him. His wife discovers the affair and devises a plan to teach her husband a lesson and simultaneously get his mistress out of the picture.
