Up Pops the Devil plot
Steve Merrick is a writer who can barely make ends meet. He is married to Anne. Steve meets wealthy publisher Gilbert Morrell. Gilbert agrees to give Steve an advance for the first two chapters of his novel. To support the household financially, Anne takes a job as a dancer in a nightclub. Unfortunately, when he's home alone, Steve has to deal with a steady stream of household problems and unexpected visitors that hinder his work. One of the visitors, the beautiful Luella May Carroll from the south, even threatens to distract Steve so that not only his novel suffers, but also his marriage. Meanwhile, Gilbert has set his sights on Anne and tries to seduce her…
