Dante finds a job: in the name of the author he has to sell to certain noble families the copies of a book about those families. It goes bad at the beginning, not a single copy is sold. He arrives at the villa of Marquis Zanotti. The man has just died and many relatives are in the house. Dante likes the daughter Iliari, who invites him to dinner. Meanwhile, the real author of the book is murdered. Two murders are also committed in the villa. When Inspector Martini investigates, he decides to block the exit of the villa so that everyone has to stay there. But meanwhile, the murders continue.
