"FUN PLUS ROMANCE PLUS EXCITEMENT IN ANOTHER HOWLING HIT OF 3,000 LAFFS"
An investigator asks Mrs. Gubbins about one William Foster, a friend of her stepson Jimmy. They are both listed as killed in action during the First World War. When the war is over, Jimmy Gubbins, William Foster and another man who has lost his memory walk down the street. They are ghosts, as the official records list them as dead and not as escaped POWs. His mother is not happy to see Jimmy still alive, because she has spent the death benefit. She is happy to see Bill, because there is a big reward for him. Nobody knows much about the third one, called 'Spoofy', except that he can steal anything at any time and is always in trouble.
