The student Artie Shoemaker has a side job as a handyman for a theater company; but he actually has two left hands and is constantly tricked by his boss. The only friend Artie has in the theater is up and coming actor Harry Crystal. Although Harry would love to win a spot on Broadway; he knows deep in his heart that he will never make it real. Still, Artie looks up to him because Harry apparently gets all the wives; but actually Harry is deeply unhappy with all his adventures for one night.
