The Toy plot
"When U. S. Bates told his son he could have any present he wanted, he picked the most outrageous gift of all... Jack Brown."
Jack (Richard Pryor) is black and finds it difficult to find a job as a journalist. The only thing he can get from the large group is a position as a householder. While he is cleaning a toy store, which is also part of the group, the director's son comes in and chooses him as a present. After all, his father had said that he could choose from everything in the department store. He decides to have himself packed anyway, because he desperately needs the money.
