The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick plot
"When Max was born they cut off his .... It's 13 years later, 1960, his BarMitzvah, and they're still at it!"
Maximilian Glick is an ordinary Jewish boy who grew up in a small town in Canada in the 1950s. However, his parents are very meddlesome and force him to adopt their preferences. For example, he gets a piano for his birthday when he actually wanted a bicycle. They are also not at all happy when Max gets piano lessons with a Christian girl. Fortunately, there is the orthodox Jewish rabbi Treitelman with an unorthodox view on life, who teaches Max to find his own identity.
