The Mating of Millie plot
Millie McGonigle (Evelyn Keyes) is a successful businesswoman who has everything her heart desires. Anything but a family. When her neighbor suddenly dies, her son, Tommy, is placed in an orphanage. Millie tries to adopt him, but because she is a single woman, she has a hard time passing the inspection. With the help of her co-worker Doug (Glenn Ford), a slick bachelor, they set out to find a suitable husband for her.
