The Man in Possession plot
"He was only a servant-but oh how he could serve!"
Raymond Dabney returns to his family after serving his prison sentence. His loving mother welcomes him with open arms, but his father and brother would rather get rid of him. They offer him money if he leaves, but Raymond rejects this insulting offer. By accident, he lands a job with the sheriff as the "man in possession" and has to guard Crystal Weatherby's house. Crystal used to be rich, but after her husband's death, she has fallen into poverty and can't even pay her bills. His job is to stay in her house and make sure she doesn't sell any of her property. Meanwhile, Crystal tries to hook up a rich man who can solve her problems.
