Reasonable film in which the mental state of King George is the cause of many intrigues. The mix of drama and comedy does not always work well here, so that the whole is sometimes a bit unbalanced. Despite the pretty nice decoration and a good leading role by Nigel Hawthorne, not always very entertaining.

Nice true costume drama (with a comic undertone) about the life of the unusual English king George III, which has already been shown hundreds of times on the television channel AMC. But because I have never seen this film, I had a good look at it on this television channel.

Despite the fact that the crazy story is interesting and fascinating and there are some smiles here and there, this film mainly relies on the dialogues (not always very interesting) and of course the beautiful locations, sets, costumes and wigs. So visually it all looks nice. The role of King George III is also well and convincingly played by Nigel Hawthorne and Helen Mirren in the role of Queen Charlotte is also heard, although it is certainly not her strongest role in a film and her role is also somewhat limited. What was also somewhat enjoyable for me to watch this film was the starring of Amanda Donohoe (as Lady Pembroke) who I used to think was a beautiful woman (especially her role in the otherwise mediocre film "[ url=http://www.moviemeter.nl/film/5762]Castaway (1986)" I enjoyed). Here and there the film is a bit boring and perhaps also long-winded.

Although I certainly didn't think it was a high-quality film, I did have a good time with it and it also looked nice.

PS Ian Holm's role as Willis was also very creditable.

The Madness of King George is a beautiful film about King George III and his poor mental health in particular. In the film I missed some exciting elements, which made me not curious about the sequel of the film. Although I didn't think it was a high-quality film, I did enjoy it while watching the film.
