Budding lawyers Mary and 'Dot' open their own practice, convinced that their future looks bright. But after months of mounting debts and declining income, Mary finds herself employed by blackmailer Frank Gordon. After financial troubles, Mary and 'Dot' find themselves representing the scum of society. But will Mary's conscience, not to mention her boyfriend's intervention, allow her to continue?
