A bushman in the Kalahari one day comes face to face with modern and western civilization in the form of a Coca Cola bottle. Seen so many times, but still very good. A bottle of Coke that causes a conflict among the otherwise serene Bushmen. The film relies mainly on its humor and its colorful characters, led by Bushman Xi. Very amusing is also the nervous doctor Stein, who every time he gets upset when he has to communicate with the beautiful teacher of the school. His "ai ai ai" is just brilliant. Interesting are the extras on the DVD that disprove the Bushmen myth. That doesn't make the film any less fun.

The movie started off really well with an introduction to the bushmen and this movie's great hero Xi. Always nice to see such an anthropological look into a foreign country and unknown culture. Xi finds an empty Coke bottle, which has been thundered down by a Western pilot, and goes in search of the 'gods' who dropped that bottle. The bottle causes conflicts with the bushmen, while it is originally a very peaceful tribe.

Anyway, then this film gets weaker and weaker with the introduction of dull subplots that come together. The acting is also really weak and things really don't get any better with those accelerated slapstick scenes. Xi's role is also becoming less and less fun. It's a shame, but there's still enough for a great start.

Nice film in which a group of bushmen become fascinated by a discarded cola bottle. The film starts quite promising, in which the cultural differences between the western world and the world of the bushmen are portrayed in a fascinating and fun way. Unfortunately it's all a bit unbalanced and although some slapstick scenes are nice, this detracts a bit from the previous potential of the film.
