The Girl from Manhattan plot
"Dottie's on the road to laughter again!"
Tom Walker, a man who has given up football to become a priest, returns to his hometown. He goes to work in the church of a bishop, an old friend of his father. Carol Maynard is a famous model from New York. She returns to her hometown to visit her boarding house uncle Homer Purdy. Carol discovers that the money she sent to Homer every month to pay off his mortgage actually went to some non-paying guests. Tom and Carol were once lovers, but their romance was broken when Tom went to college and Carol to New York. The two start a new relationship, but the bishop is not happy about it.
