A terrible experience. Sometimes it's good to see something out of the ordinary and if it pleases your other half, then it's completely cat-in-a-box. Unfortunately for me, I have nothing to do with the fashion world. What am I saying? There are few things I have more contempt for than that. Somehow I was hoping The Devil Wears Prada would dispel my preconceptions, but alas. It's not just that only bone-thin counts as normal, but especially the way people treat each other. Emily Blunt lives up to her last name completely. Biting my nails, I waited in vain for the main character's primal urges to surface and all those hideous fashion people with their hideous mannerisms and backstabbing remarks would flicker out the window. The worst part is that the film teaches you that you have to join the degrading circus, to be accepted and that losing your real friends has to be taken for granted. If someone takes her coat and bag on my desk flickers, then I just as easily push it on the floor, but no, standing up for yourself is of course not done. It's unfortunately a pretty good reflection of today's society, but I really wonder who is really watching this for fun.

“You sold your soul to the devil when you put on your first pair of Jimmy Choo's, I saw it.”

I'm probably not the target audience, but I quite enjoyed this movie. The fashion world doesn't interest me that much and the story is predictable, but because of the humor and the colorful characters it never gets boring.

Streep and Hathaway are the protagonists, but I enjoyed the playing of Stanley Tucci and especially Emily Blunt the most. Great acting by these two great actors. Streep is good, but I always see Streep acting theatrically rather than looking at a flesh and blood character (see also The Iron Lady). Hathaway is decent but I've seen her better. Despite her colorful clothes, she herself was somewhat colorless. But The Devil Wears Prada is certainly an entertaining movie.

A mediocre film and a mediocre comedy. I was in the mood for something light-hearted and humorous without being too superficial. Think of The Intern or something like that. In terms of humor, this is actually zero. Emily Blunt is strong and somewhat comical, but that's about it. Drama-technically it is slightly better, in which it is nicely depicted how Andy is carried away, with all her good intentions. But it never really gets good. It's too predictable and just not interesting enough for that.
