"Life is about keeping your head above water."
A group of people, between the ages of 18 and 80, have signed up for a swimming course. What connects them is the fact that they have all never visited a swimming pool. Under the guidance of the apparently more stable swimming instructor, they will have to face their losses, fears and shortcomings, even the instructor himself will have to believe them. To participate in the 'big mean swim called life' you will have to get wet at some point.
