The Bargee plot
Hemel Pike is an inland skipper and highly skilled casanova who is assisted in his work by his illiterate cousin Ronnie. Heaven has a sweetheart in every town that crosses its sailing route, but these ladies know nothing about each other and are all keen on marrying the womanizer. When one of those girls, Christine, becomes pregnant with Heaven, her father is in all states and wants at all costs to uncover who has tarnished his daughter's good name.
