Harold Fine (Peter Sellers) is a decent lawyer. He looks forward to his marriage and the rest of his life. His life changes when he meets Nancy (Leigh Taylor-Young). Nancy is young and enjoying the flower power era. Harold decides to leave the dull life behind. At some point he starts to wonder if this life isn't too free and irresponsible.
