Professor Sylvain is a good family man to the outside world. But he strives for a little freedom and assures his wife that he must attend a convention in Clermont-Ferrand. In reality, he wants to find his young mistress. When he cannot give the train hours on his return, he is unmasked and his wife orders him to leave the conjugal home.
