Sweetheart of the Fleet plot

Phoebe Weyms, a secretary at an advertising agency, is in love with her boss Gordon Crouse, but he doesn't pay her any attention. To get his attention, Phoebe contacts the Navy Recruiting radio station and offers to guess the two mysterious girls who work for this radio station. They sing because of a gigantic recruiting campaign in the radio program 'Blind Date'. However, Crouse is furious at what Phoebe has done. He tells her that the 'Blind Date' girls Brenda and Cobina are ugly. Phoebe then suggests that Jerry Gilbert and Kitty Leslie, two models from their agency, pose as singers, while Brenda and Cobina do the actual singing from behind a curtain.
