String Beans plot

Toby Watkins works as a day laborer on a farm. To his uncle's dismay, he also writes verses for a local newspaper. After a falling out, he runs away from home. He gets a job as a laborer at the newspaper and soon rises to the position of subcontractor. Meanwhile, a crook named Kendall Reeves has taken up residence in town. He forces the mayor to give him $500. Toby learns of the scheme and saves the mayor, winning the hand of his daughter in marriage.
