What a mealy porridge I was served here.

This lousy work is really cringeworthy. Actors, including Roberts (which is why I bought this movie), give their worst performance. Neeson also doesn't bake bread of it. Bad start where among other things one of the girls gets into a fight with some kind of gang, they try to escape with their bus, and oh yes, their bus broke down again. It is also quite an irritating movie to watch and towards the end I really had to chew on. For the rest, no special story and uninspired direction. 1.0 for Roberts.

Justine Bateman, we may have collectively forgotten her, but she was one of the up and coming actresses at the time, and that Julia Roberts would eventually break through from this cast we really didn't know then. And Liam Neeson of course, explain that to me.

What we did know then was that The Bangles were the real bomb, and the film shamelessly and gratuitously piggybacks on their success. Up to and including Julia Roberts looking like a clone of Michael Steele - the uber beautiful big hair bassist of the Bangles, and how I was infatuated with her at the time. Or perhaps just with our 'Zjuul' itself, because the images flow effortlessly into each other.

But besides that this is just a nice movie that deserves to be seen, because nothing has changed in that time. Just like in the movies of today Neeson is too old for the role he plays, just like in the movies of today the music doesn't really fit but the soundtrack still works. The only thing that might seem a bit strange are the hairstyles.
