Raspberry Magic plot

11-year-old Monica Shah thinks she must win a science competition to bring her father back after he abandoned his family. She blames herself for her parents' problems, but takes charge when her mother falls into deep depression. Monica's experiment consists of a "touch therapy" that helps raspberries grow faster. Now she wonders if it is natural that by nurturing and touching something, it can really help it grow? A complex question, to which the answer is really not simple.
