Peeples plot
Wade Walker is eager to propose to his girlfriend Grace Peeples. But after a year of living together, the beautiful, successful Grace is still reluctant to introduce Wade to her ambitious, high-born family. When Grace goes to the annual family reunion, Wade decides to drop by unannounced, charm his soon-to-be in-laws and slip a ring on Grace's finger. But Wade's plans go awry when he meets her family.

When I went to see the film I honestly expected a mix of The Cosby Show with something like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Too sweet, rather lame humor that honestly doesn't appeal to me that much. Right after seeing the first 3 minutes I seemed to be right: A song about peeing and pissing, that doesn't promise much...
But lo and behold, the film quickly changed - pleasantly surprising - into a pleasantly watchable whole. A comedy that I watched for the most part with a smile on my face, here and there even more than that. Nowhere did the humor become really (too) lame. I did have sympathy for lead actor Wade Walker who tries to win over his in-laws to ask his great love to marry him. No Oscar nominations, but all in all a small hour and a half comedy that I do not regret. 3 *-s.

Somewhat a dime a dozen lame comedy with a lame story and a lot of lame humor (unfortunately there is also regular singing). But despite this, this film was still somewhat watchable and there was also regularly something to (smile) laugh. The fact that the film was reasonably watchable is partly due to the beautiful Kerry Washington and perhaps also Kali Hawk. The cast of course does not play a high-quality role, but they did reasonably well and in particular of course lead actor Craig Robinson. Nice to have seen once, but certainly nothing more.
PS it is indeed a kind of "Meet the Fockers", but with almost all dark-skinned actors and actresses.

A comedy that remains somewhat fun by the pleasant cast, but the weak story contains too much lame humor. Here and there there is a funny scene and the film is fortunately easy to watch. 5/10
