"Sometimes a stranger makes the best friend"
Sean is a Los Angeles weather forecaster with a broken heart. During a live broadcast where he announces a heat wave, he breaks. The station insists that he take a sabbatical and his friends urge him to find someone to talk to, but Sean chooses to fix up his house. Out of a group of men seeking work, Sean hires Ernesto to paint his roof. Their initially simple business arrangement quickly extends to hiking excursions and boat trips where Sean tells Ernesto all about himself, despite the fact that the two don't share a common language. In fact, this wealthy, white, gay celebrity and this working-class Mexican dad with five kids don't seem to have much in common.
